A funeral that feels like them
A celebrant-led funeral is built around the person who has died — their character, their stories, the things that made them laugh and the people they loved. It can be completely non-religious, or it can include a hymn, prayer or reading if that feels right for your family. There’s no set format; we create it together.
I’m a certified funeral celebrant, trained with The Academy of Modern Celebrancy, and I treat every family with the time, patience and care I’d want for my own.
How I work with families
After you get in touch, I’ll arrange to talk with you and anyone else who’d like to be involved — in person or on a video call, whatever is easiest. I’ll ask about their life, gently and at your pace, and gather the stories you’d like shared. From there I write the ceremony, including the tribute or eulogy, and send it to you to read and change before the day.
On the day, I’ll lead the service calmly, keep it running to time, and support anyone who wants to speak. If you’re working with a funeral director, you can ask them to contact me directly, or get in touch with me first and I’ll liaise with them.
Where ceremonies can take place
Around Leicester, many funerals are held at the city’s crematorium at Gilroes, at Great Glen Crematorium to the south-east, or at Loughborough Crematorium in the north of the county. But a celebration of life can happen almost anywhere: a woodland burial ground, a village hall, a favourite pub, a sports club or the family garden.
Memorials, ash scatterings & celebrations of life
More families now choose a direct cremation and hold a celebration of life afterwards, when there’s time to plan and everyone can gather. I can create a memorial or ash-scattering ceremony weeks or months later, in a place that meant something to the person you’ve lost.

Questions people ask
Can I book a funeral celebrant through my funeral director?
Yes. Tell your funeral director you’d like me to lead the service and they can contact me, or you can get in touch directly and I’ll work with them on timings and arrangements.
Does a celebrant funeral have to be non-religious?
No. Many families choose a ceremony without religion, but I’m happy to include a hymn, prayer or reading if it reflects the person or brings comfort to the family.
How soon can you help?
Funerals are often arranged at short notice. Please get in touch as soon as you can by email or WhatsApp and I’ll let you know my availability.
Can family members speak or read?
Of course. I can help anyone who’d like to speak prepare their words, and I’m always ready to step in and read on their behalf if it becomes too much on the day.
